| This drinker was designed specifically to address a problem that sometimes causes loss of young birds. Young birds, when weaned, on occasion, will die of thirst. They were not able to find the water. I have always suggested that you be on the lookout for young birds blinking their eyes as there may be a sign that they have not found the drinking water. The Young Bird Drinker has a very unique design. The water is filled into a plastic tray at the top of the drinker. The top tray has three very small holes in the bottom and water drips down into the bottom plastic tray. This dripping sound grabs the young birds attention and they find the water. Doweled access from two sides. The upper tray is accessed by lifting up the hinged roof. The bottom tray has a small lift up door which allows you to remove the bottom tray. A rolling bar at the top discourages roosting on top of the drinker. 17 1/4" long, 8 3/4" front to back, and 15 3/4" high. Made in Belgium by a company known around the world for quality. This is an expensive unit, but if you save one or two young birds it is a bargain. Holds just under one gallon. |
